I’m a ghost

Simultaneously the only guest

And host

Alone

Honestly,

This party blows

Lots of Tricks,

Treats?

Absent of those

One day there won’t be

A thought or even a spooky shadow of me

Only frightening unfamiliarity

I won’t even be the phantom of your heart in those halls

Remove me like out of fashion art from your walls

Love abandoned filled in part with emptiness and echoed calls

Soon the space between

Today and next Halloween

Will be barren

Of memories

Devoid of you and me

So, light the match, watch it burn

Our past plus this jack-o-lantern

Party’s over, close that creepy curtain
